It’s 2022, and that means the focus on sustainability and eliminating harmful materials from the environment is vital. The world is changing rapidly and it’s up to us to adjust the trajectory. Did you know that 78 million tons of packaging waste is produced every year? Over half of packaging waste is recyclable, but recyclability is contingent upon many factors. What is recyclable in your municipal might not be recyclable for someone in the next town over.
At Wexler Packaging, we take great pride in being able to offer sustainable solutions, and we always have. Over the last nearly 5 decades we’ve been in operation, we’ve been dedicated to reducing packaging waste. It all started with self-sealing paper bands – which not only reduce the amount of materials used but also uses better resources for the environment. While we’ve evolved tremendously into key areas of the packaging industry, including into the ultra-sonic banding, automation, and linerless labeling world, we’ve maintained those core values.
As trusted advisors in the packaging industry, we recognize the responsibility we have to the environment. It’s our obligation to conduct business in a manner that protects and improves the state of the environment for future generations. We’ve developed our own sustainability initiative that has three parts to it:
- Our commitment to provide all industries with sustainable packaging/bundling solutions that reduce waste and promote material conservation in primary and secondary packaging.
- Our commitment to offer quality equipment and products that are both cost-effective and help to minimize the environmental footprint.
- Our commitment to encourage sustainable practices and to take a leadership role in educating our employees, suppliers, customers and prospects about the best solutions for achieving environmental excellence in packaging.
The possibilities are out there and every year, thanks to technology and innovative minds, new packaging types are always being created. Countless environmentally-sustainable packaging types already exist, and you can look for more as time goes on. Single-use consumer packaging is on its way to extinction and zero-waste packaging is gaining the traction. The amount of savings that could be achieved from more sustainable packaging alone, for both manufacturers and consumers, it’s a win-win for all!
